Why
buy Gold?
To the uninitiated contemporary investor the idea of Gold conjures
images of King Tut, Ancient Rome, pirates on the open seas, or a bunch
of coins in a strong box on a stage coach being robbed by bad cowboys
in an old Western movie they saw once. Here we are in the 21st Century
with instant access via the internet to New York's Wall Street or
Japan's Nikkei. We can invest our hard earned capital in Money Markets,
Mutual Funds, Stocks, Bonds, CDs, Annuities, Futures, or Treasuries
just
to mention a few. "Why would I want to invest in gold in this
day and age?" is a question often asked of me.
When asked this question by skeptical potential investors, I simply
walk over to my safe and dig out a shoe box I keep just for this reason.
I set it on my desk and remove a stock certificate showing shares
in Microsoft I bought back in the mid 90s and put it in their hands.
When they read what it is they always get a smile on their face and
make some friendly comment about how lucky I am or how envious they
are. I then take it back and replace it with two thousand dollars
worth of U.S. Treasury Notes and tell them exactly what it's worth.
At this point, they're kind of looking at me funny, but I ask them
to put it in their left hand and I put two thousand dollars worth
of South African Gold Krugerrands in their right hand and tell them
that their two hands holds exactly the same value. They immediately
understand. I then relive them of the T Notes and let them fondle
the gold coins between their hands. When a person physically handles
gold it invokes something in him or her, something primeval, something
I think is hard wired into us. There's just something about Gold and
I'm not nearly a good enough writer to describe it to you, I don't
think it can be described
one must experience it.
Gold is an investment like none other, both tangible and liquid. Liquid
means it can be easily sold. Stocks are liquid but not tangible. Property
is a tangible investment but not liquid as it takes some time to sell
it. Gold is something you can hold in your hand but sell it for cash
in moments and this is what makes Gold such a great investment. Gold
is the ultimate insurance policy and survival kit.
Gold is the safest substance of currency on the face of the earth
and has been for several millennia. Gold has only went up in price
throughout the History of Mankind and there is no doubt that trend
will continue
making it the world's best insurance policy. I
like to make analogies and I consider investing in Gold true Life
Insurance. Having Gold in your safe or hidden behind your cupboards
means you always have means to live. With all the chaos in our lives
today anything could happen. Islamic terrorists may again attack us
and shut down our entire system for a time. The threat of Nuclear,
Biological, and Chemical warfare is ever present. Natural disasters,
riots, or even that Bird Flu may temporarily separate you from your
money, regardless of how protected you are. Then there's Identity
theft which is plaguing our society today. If this strikes you, it
is typical to have your entire financial portfolio shut down for days
or even weeks. Finally, it's always possible to get in trouble. Say
you're sued for whatever reason, or the Government deems you guilty
of something
innocent or not
your financial assets may be
frozen until they can figure it out
right down to your Savings
Account. In any of the situations above and many, many more I won't
bore you with all can be remedied with Gold hoarded away in your home
or on your property somewhere.
That's why I call it the ultimate survival kit, because it will get
you food, shelter, Medical care/supplies, fuel and anything else you
may require for your existence regardless of where you are. A troy
ounce Gold coin will take care of you if you're dealing with a guy
on the street in downtown Cedar Rapids, an Inuit Tribe at the North
Pole, or a Bedouin sheep hearder in the deserts of Arabia.
You may remember that old James Bond movie where he carried a brief
case with 20 Gold Sovereigns in it? This was not just Hollywood, during
WWII and the Cold War, and probably still today
agents always
carried Gold coins of some sort. These were used to acquire information,
supplies, or make brides with. The reason for Gold was it is the only
true global currency. Military pilots on reconnaissance or bombing
missions carried Gold for this very same reason.
Now I hope you understand why I call Gold the ultimate Insurance policy
and survival kit. With this new found knowledge, if you're interested
in investing in Gold please call me. I am a Gold Broker from right
here in Cedar Rapids. Not only that, I have been in business since
1971, longer than anyone else in town. I can meet you with you in
your home or mine and together we can put together your Gold portfolio,
based on your needs.
I look forward to doing business with you.
